Don't think so. I've never heard that they have another location.
About 90 years.
Yes
Reuben is on point, good fries
Haven't eaten here, just drinks, bar is not bad, decent cocktails.
This place has never really been one of my go-to spots, and I don't have a clear reason why. The atmosphere is awesome and the deck is perfect for smokers. Even the food has gotten exponentially better over the last few yearsGuess I need to rethink a lot of things in life
My husband and I went during lunch time on a weekend and it wasn't very busy, which was nice. I've heard it's more lively at night. It was our first time going here. They have some craft beers on tap as well as a full bar. The vibe is very nice in the white place with some feel good music playing. It's neat inside and stays true to the New York theme and the era it was originally built. The service was great. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. I had the chicken and waffles! It was delicious with a spicy kick. The waffle was cheddar and jalapeño with a siracha honey drizzle as well as a fried egg on top. Not healthy, but very comforting and worth it! My husband loved his sandwich and the beer batter fries are delicious. The prices are so great as well. For two people, our meal was less than $30 for some great food. It's a win-win!
Went to a food tour and New York Deli was on the menu. Built in 1929 it is the home of the Sailor Sandwich. I had the sriracha chicken and waffles and would have liked to lick the plate. I certainly will add this deli to my Carytown restaurant likes.
Awesome food and drinks! Really creative specials!
Love the atmosphere, cool old time bar.Staff was very prompt and helpful.Had been looking forward to trying the "Sailor" sandwich at the place of its birth. Was a little disappointed. It was an ok sandwich, but didn't have any phenomenal flavors or uniqueness to it.The combination of having a knackwurst on pastrami, w/Swiss and Russian dressing, is a little odd, and if anything the knackwurst made eating the sandwich awkward.I would also say that my knackwurst was just warm, even though it had grill marks. All the elements of the sandwich tasted good...individually, but together....eh.Parking was a challenge midday on a Sunday.
Our favorite place!! Something so simple, but delicious...chicken tenders! If they take that much care with such a simple dish, then you can guess what the rest of their menu is like! Atmosphere is great
Like the theme and service, I do like some of the food but the Falafel is way off
I wish there were more vegan options, but I do love this place
In the past few months we have enjoyed delicious lunches and brunches here. The service has been wonderful and the food and drinks super tasty!
Great food, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is very good. I love this place and will frequent it
Pastrami and Swiss was delish, hamburger didn't stand out. Loaded nachos were great. Great atmosphere. Considering how slow business was, I though service could have been faster. It was a hot day and drinks weren't refilled fast enough. Still, worth trying.
Killer Sailor, killer Reuben, killer Italian., killer club, killer Patty melt. People say other things are good but I never manage to deviate from my five favorite sandwiches.
We came for Plant Nite, the venue is very nice will return for food. But plant nite was great!
Husband and I have been to NY Deli on a few occasions. Once for a company outing on their patio, once for NYE, and a couple times for dinner. Each experience has been pleasant. The food is great (especially their beer-battered French fries) and they offer a full bar as well. They even offer trivia on a certain night of the week, which was exciting when we randomly happened across it. It seems to be a safe place for LGBTQ people as well, although it's not specifically a gay bar by any means.
Came here for karaoke with a friend who loves going to sing, so I decided to check it out with her. I think the host was probably one of the best karaoke hosts I've come across. Drinks weren't overpriced, and the bartenders were quick for how busy it was. I definitely recommend this place for Thursday karaoke.
I loved the wings and my husband loved his burger. Customer service was top notch. We will be back
The food was delicious and the service was great. More of a restaurant with a deli menu than a true deli.
One of my favorites places to go my husband and I love it
Good bar/ restaurant in Carytown. The bartenders are knowledgeable and good mixologists. I miss the quality of deli style menu items of the original New York Deli.
Always hear about the place from family and friends. Dad talked about how good it was in the day. Went with him recently and he said it wasn't the same. Of course he was comparing like 50 years ago. Service was slow and there wasnt really anyone there to be waited on. 2:30 in the afternoon and we waited for ever to get the bill. When we did we put a card in it and the server never came back. Ended up looking through our pockets to pay cash just to leave. Philly steak wasnt that great. Had better at other places in the area. Why do they call themselves a deli if their sandwiches are just alright and/or dry?
Great food cooked to order. Quiet atmosphere to hold a meeting.
Food is pretty good, especially when it's not too busy. Brunch menu is cool, and the sandwich selection is great but not a bunch of substantial vegetarian options and I couldn't find any fish on the menu. Pretty awesome bloody Mary's and interesting cocktail selection. Usually gets crazy busy around dinner and during weekend bar service/events. Solid option if you're walking around carytown though.
Great food and an amazing waiter who on a Sunday afternoon ran the show himself. We will be back.
Stopped in for lunch with my two year old. This place was great! Definitely kid friendly, but also looks like an awesome place to come for drinks (with no kids, of course)! We both enjoy our food, and the service was awesome!
New York Smelly has been a favorite for years. Had lunch here and was impressed with the food. Also spent many of blurry nights in this establishment. Can't remember a bad time.
Great sandwiches. Great beer battered fries. Service is good. Relatively casual. Fun bar away night as well.
Everything is great. Food , music and drinks.👎🏼 for that one DJ called dook they hire occasionally.... Dudes a Cosby in frat clothing.
Always friendly. Food is always fresh, and service is fast.
Driving through Richmond, and a family member recommended this place that they’ve gone to for years and years. The Reuben was delicious!
Pretty straight for a bar. Saturday’s get interesting if the drinks are flowing. I would rather go to Babes, but straight friends you know 🤷♂️
Incredible brunch. The Corned beef was outstanding and wait staff welcoming. Definitely recommend.
Best chicken Cesar wrap I've ever had.
The food was great, and there were several items on the menu I would be willing to try in the future. However, even though they were trying to be kid friendly (kid menu, crayons, coloring book, frisbee plates) it was pretty obvious that the wait staff didn't quite understand that they couldn't bring out half of the entrees (the adults), while waiting for the kid entrees to be completed - they were waiting for some house made chips that weren't quite ready yet, but are the default (free) included side with the kids' meals. Once we were able to get their attention, they did bring out our kids' meals minus the chips, and then the chips followed a few minutes later. Other than that odd situation, it was good, but maybe just mention you want all entrees at the same time?
Nice, diverse menu selection. Cool atmosphere. Full bar and likely some beer you'll like on tap or bottled. I had a spicy chicken sandwich that was fried crispy on the outside, hot and juicy inside. Lettuce, tomato, pickle, jalapenos and mayo. With tater tots cooked just right. Wife had a patty melt cooked medium, smothered in delicious cheese, sauteed onions, mayo and for dessert bread pudding with whipped cream. We enjoyed this place and would return to try more of the menu.
I don’t like to write negative reviews but I had to on this one person eating here just picked up an Italian sub to go. I’d have to say the worst Italian sandwich I’ve ever had. The meet was extremely dry no oil and vinegar on the sub no mayonnaise and the ham was so salty I couldn’t even eat it I literally can only take a few bites of the sandwich before I had to toss it. And a sandwich and fries cost me over $14 such a waste of money will never be coming back
Bar service was great, and fairly prompt given the number of guests. The DJ seemed to have people getting on their feet and enjoying the music being played.
I went to this place for the first time on the 22nd with my family. The waitresses were very nice and very patient with my grandpa and his brother. Which I thought was great and very thoughtful of them. The food was delicious everyone loved the food. Greatly would recommend this place.
I love the food. Take out has always been correct and tasty!
The food is always great and creative, and the workers are very friendly! I've been here several times and it's always a memorable experience!
Brunch every day! The food is pretty good but not the best. Love the decor. Had to wait a very long time for our food the last 2 times I went. Overall not bad, I keep coming back even if it's because there's never a wait for a table.
Decent food and good service. Hardly like a true NY deli, but still a great place to go for a quick bite. Make sure you check out the Bloody Mary bar while you're there!!!
Delicious dishes and libations in an environment that makes me never want to leave.
Nice bartender, great drink prices. Cute, clean, place. LGBTQ+ friendly
Food was good, service slow but atmosphere was charming.
First time here and the food and staff were amazing and everything was in point for sure. The BLT was bacon heavy and the fries were amazing adding cheese and bacon next time. Hubby had the Reuben and kettle chips and said they were awesome. Will be back next month thanks for a great meal.
Good food, great service and best location for hanging out. In the middle of Carytown a few doors down from the Byrd Theater. The Deli has been a staple for many years in some form. It's known for is sandwiches. It's said it even is the originator of the Sailor Sandwich. I play boardgames every Wednesday night and have a great time.
Friendly staff. They make things right if there is an issue with the meal (just ask). Even had one nice waiter (blonde hair, not sure of his name) who went out of the way to make me a milkshake not even on the menu when I was in the mood for one! Owner is awesome. Let's us play board games there.
Awesome place just to lay back and have a good time
Solid service, good food, enjoyable location.
